Food Services

The Food Service Department is a self-supporting division of Colorado River Union High School School District. We view ourselves as a vital partner in the student's educational process. We all know that a child needs to eat balanced and nutrient rich food if he or she is going to be able to learn. By providing nutritious meals in a pleasant surrounding and helping to teach students the value of a nutritious meal our programs become a vital part of the educational day.

How can I participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program, also known as the National School Lunch Program, (NSLP)?
Fill out a Free and Reduced application in full and return it to the cafeteria office. Once the application is processed, if you qualify based on your income, you may be entitled to free or reduced lunches. You will be notified by mail once the application has processed.

Can I do a pre-payment for my child’s meals?
Yes, you or your child can come to the cafeteria office with a check or cash, as a pre-payment. An account will be created for them. The funds are tracked according to student ID numbers.

Where does my child get a student ID number?
Student ID numbers are issued at registration, and will also be on your child’s ID badge.

How does my child pay using pre-paid funds on their account?
The funds are tracked according to student ID numbers. Students go through the lunch line with their food as normal and at the cashier, they type in their ID number and hit enter. Funds will automatically be deducted from their account. The cashier will assist them if needed.

Where can my child use their account pre-payment?
At any lunch line or in the snack bar.

Does the snack bar cost the same as the lunch lines?
The snack bar prices vary.

What if my child runs out of money on the pre-payment account or doesn’t have money for lunch periodically?
If the student does not have money, they will be fed. An account will be opened for your child, and the meal will be charged to it. The account must be paid back in a timely manner, or future charges may be denied.
